Thank you to the Preston Historical Society and Mr. McCray for presenting to our 5th grade today in preparation for their upcoming field to Linchester Mill, the James Webb Cabin, and the William Still Interpretive Center as they travel in the footsteps of Harriet Tubman and the Underground Railroad! #pespantherpride

Today PES celebrated Dia de los Muertos, or the Day of the Dead. The Day of the Dead is a two day holiday that reunites the living and dead. Families create ofrendas (Offerings) to honor their departed family members that have passed. In the pictures below, you can see our school ofrenda created from the pictures of departed loved ones our students brought in, and also some of the activities that our students did today for the Day of the Dead. Thank you especially to Mrs. Elin and Mrs. Carroll, and our classroom teachers, for helping our students create such meaningful memories on this day! #pespantherpride

What a fantastic day for a field trip to Adkins Arboretum! Our Pre-K 4 Panthers enjoyed learning about local environment with their teachers! Those smiles tell the whole story! #pespantherpride

Our Panthers are never afraid for some hands on learning! Mrs. Burns’ class is learning about area by taping off square feet right in their classroom! #pespantherpride

A soooky good time was had by all panthers big and small this morning at PES for our Halloween parade 🧡🖤 Thank you to our amazing Grandparent’s committee & Preston Panther PTO for the goodie bags, Preston ford for bringing treats, and all of our families for coming out to help celebrate our Halloween tradition 🎃

Halloween activities will be held on October 31, 2023. Important: In the event of inclement weather (rain) we will be holding an indoor parade, that due to lack of available space, would be for staff and students only. We will text all families at 7:30 AM tomorrow if that is the case. The forecast looks like it will stay dry (yay!) but it will be colder than it has been so we recommend students wear warmer clothes under their costumes. Please see the email to all parents today or our newsletter for all PES Halloween Celebration information.

Every student has received a copy of this book in their native language and we will be reading this book together as a school and community! We encourage you to read along with your students at home. Please see this PES Humphrey Letter we sent home, along with a schedule of when we will be reading our chapters so you can follow along! Humphrey will be visiting classrooms and having adventures all over PES so stay tuned to our social media pages for all the fun!

Red Ribbon Week highlights the importance of living a drug-free life. It presents an opportunity for parents, educators, and communities to reinforce the drug-free messages they share with their children throughout the year. We are recognizing Red Ribbon Week with daily announcements, and by providing our students with Red Ribbon Week items promoting this important message.
