📣 Attention Incoming Pre-K 3 & Pre-K 4 Families! Greensboro Elementary School is excited to welcome our newest Little Hornets to Pre-K Orientation on Tuesday, September 1, from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM. Families will have the opportunity to meet their child's teacher, visit classrooms, drop off school supplies, and learn more about the exciting school year ahead. Pre-K 4 families should report to the main GES building, while Pre-K 3 families will be welcomed at the Judy Center. Our staff and administrators will be available to assist throughout the event and help ensure a smooth, welcoming experience for all. The Student Benefits Form (Household Income Data Collection) was sent home with students this week, and we are asking all families to complete and return it, even if you believe your family may not qualify for benefits. Please look for the form in your student's materials and refer to the images below for examples of what it looks like. Completing this form is extremely important because the information collected helps secure funding that supports free meals for all students, as well as other valuable programs and services throughout the district. In addition, submitting the form may provide direct benefits to your family, including discounts for summer and recreational programs, access to discounted or low-cost internet services, fee waivers for SAT and AP testing, college application fee waivers, and potential eligibility for the Maryland Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP).

What an amazing first day at Greensboro Elementary School! 🐝💚💛 Our Hornets are back, and the building was filled with smiles, excitement, and lots of learning. A huge thank you to our incredible teachers and staff, bus drivers, cafeteria team, front office staff, custodial team, support staff, and everyone who worked behind the scenes to make today such a success. We were absolutely blown away by the incredible turnout for our Meet the Teacher & Back-to-School Night! 💚💛 Thank you to all of our families who came out, our amazing GES staff for welcoming our Hornets back, our Community Schools Fair vendors, Pete’s PeteZa, Kona Ice, and everyone who helped make the evening possible. The Greensboro community truly showed up and showed out, and the energy throughout our building was amazing! 🐝 We can’t wait for an incredible year at GES!

Meet the Teacher & Back-to-School Night is just around the corner! Join us on Monday, August 24, from 4:00–5:30 PM at GES for an exciting evening as we kick off the new school year. Kindergarten through 5th grade students and families will have the opportunity to meet their teachers, drop off school supplies, and visit our Community Fair in the cafeteria to connect with local organizations and learn about resources available to GES families. There will be a special Passport to Learning activity that, if families complete, will allow them to enjoy free pizza from Pete's PeteZa food truck! Kona Ice will also be on hand to sell to families, with a portion of their proceeds benefiting GES students. We look forward to welcoming everyone before the first day of school on Wednesday, August 26, and starting another great year together!

Our new GES teachers enjoyed a great afternoon of connection and fun with fellow CCPS new teachers today! After a full morning of professional development, they put their teamwork and competitive spirit to the test with some Minute to Win It games before cooling off with delicious local ice cream from Nice Ice Cream Creamery, one of our wonderful local vendors. It was a well-deserved opportunity to laugh, build relationships, and recharge after a busy morning of learning. Tomorrow, our newest Hornets will spend one final day preparing their classrooms and getting ready for the year ahead before we welcome all GES teachers back to the building on Wednesday!

🐝 The Hive was buzzing tonight as Greensboro families joined us for our Meet the New Administration & Title I Night! It was wonderful connecting with our families, sharing information, answering questions, and spending time together as we prepare for an exciting new school year. We loved seeing so many familiar faces and welcoming new ones to our school community. Thank you to everyone who came out and helped make the evening special—we can’t wait to welcome all of our Hornets back into the building very soon! 💚💛🐝

The Salvation Army Angel Tree Program is preparing to provide Christmas assistance to qualifying families with children ages 12 and under, and registration begins this September! Caroline County families can register in person at the Federalsburg Judy Center on September 21, 22, and 25 from 3:00–6:00 PM, or at the Greensboro Elementary School Judy Center on September 23 from 3:00–6:00 PM. Families should review the attached flyer carefully and bring all required documentation when registering. We are happy to help spread the word about this wonderful opportunity for families in our community and encourage you to share this information with anyone who may benefit from support this holiday season! 🎄🎁❤️
