Our Panthers are enjoying our book and Humphrey is visiting our classrooms daily and will be visiting all our Panthers as we continue reading! This week, we are already up to chapter 7 and 8! We would like to thank our Preston Panther PTO for their donation of 5 dollars to every single PES Panther during our Fall Book Fair! Because of this amazing and generous donation, every single student was able to leave our book fair with a new book in hand! Today was one of our favorite days of the year 😍 We celebrated Grandparents day all day long and recognized our beloved veterans at our annual Veterans Day assembly 🇺🇸 ❤️ Our Veterans Day assembly included special performances from our chorus, readings from our students, and our special guest speaker, Sergeant First Class Daniel Mulford 💙 This is one of our most treasured traditions here at PES and was well attended by many members of our community, as well as local veterans ❤️ The day was full of love, celebration, and thankfullness 🤍 Thank you so much to our 300+ grandparents, veterans, board members, and special guests who came out to PES today 🥰 #pespantherpride
Book Fair Night was a huge success, and thank you to all of our families for coming out to support our book fair, our media center, and Preston Elementary School! We always love seeing our Panthers, getting new books and expanding their imagination and minds! #pespantherpride
Our 5th grade students time traveled today in the footsteps of Harriet Tubman along one of the most famously trafficked stretches of her Underground Railroad in Caroline County. In a string of visits to three historical sites in the area, they toured Linchester Mill in Preston (one of the oldest operating mills in the United States), the James Webb Cabin on Grove Rd. in Preston, and the William Still Interpretive Center at the 4-H Park in Denton. Students were guided by their 5th grade teachers, members of The Caroline County Historical Society, and Friends of Linchester Mill to learn about the history of each site. Thank you to the Caroline County Historical Society, Linchester Mill, parents and chaperones, and 5th grade teachers for making this an amazing experience 🫶🏻🤎
Good morning! A final reminder that tomorrow is our annual Grandparent Day and Veterans Day Assembly. Grandparents Day runs all day at PES. Please park in the front parking lot, on the side of the building, or by the tennis courts behind the school. Please enter through the main entrance of the school. Raptor Registration tables will be set up at the entrance. The Fall Bookfair is available throughout the day The Veterans Day program will begin at 2 PM and all Grandparents are invited. The assembly is open to other PES family members as well who should enter at the car rider entrance for sign-in and registration starting at 1:45 PM. We are looking forward to a fantastic day!
Reminder to all PES Families: Tomorrow, Thursday, November 9 is our Book Fair Night event. The Book Fair will be open from 4 to 5 PM for all PES families to come and make purchases. We hope to see you there!
After seeing our 5th graders so engaged with science, our Kindergarten Panthers did not want to be outdone! Our young Panthers are working together to build a structure where no push or pull is needed to move our cars forward! Learning about motion and physics at such an early age! #pespantherpride
Today in 5th grade science our Panthers created a food web using yarn to show the flow of energy from one organism to another. Each student held a different card, either a producer, a consumer or a decomposer to represent the order in which energy is transferred. #pespantherpride
PES would like to send our deepest thanks to the Denton Rotary Club and Shore United Bank for their generous donation to our 3rd graders at PES for the Fall Book Fair. Each student received six dollars to spend at the book fair for the purchase of books that they were interested in! Today, Mr. Walter Palmer, from the Denton Rotary Club, and Mrs. Danielle Forest from Shore United Bank, came to read and present to our third grade students.
